Fatigue

Why am I so Tired?

Fatigue strikes everyone at one time or another – after vigorous exercise, a long workday or prolonged stress. Most people experience fatigue that they cannot easily remedy with sleep or rest at some point in their lives.  Why?

Cells

The body is an amazing and complex machine with different communication and interaction systems starting at the cellular level.  The cells have systems of communication that allow molecules to enter and exit.  The cells bring in what they need for nourishment and formation and take out the trash they don’t use.  White blood cells recognize pathogens, bring them into their cell body and destroy them.  There are types of tube-like connections between cells for transporting water and ions between them. Electrical-chemical signals spread through these tubes and create the necessary action for your nervous system.    This is a simple explanation, but the fact is, though cells are amazing, they can only work with what they have.

Nervous System

On a larger scale, the nervous system provides communication lines for all the systems in the body.  When the nervous system is not working correctly, these lines are not properly distributing energy.  Energy is wasted, and that can contribute to imbalances and fatigue.  Hormones become unbalanced, and this affects sleep.   Lack of energy contributes to depression and stress.

Stress and depression contribute to imbalances in our systems and use up energy.

Chronic discomfort or pain zaps energy in our systems, and this contributes to fatigue.

While this all might seem complicated, it is easily understood that winning the battle with fatigue starts with improving over-all general health.  The question is, how?

A misaligned spine can contribute to fatigue by causing nerve interference and cutting communication to other parts of our body.  Hormones can become unbalanced, causing sleep difficulties and more fatigue.  Additionally, pain from a misaligned spine zaps energy.  It can be a never-ending cycle.

Chiropractic Care can Help Manage Fatigue

A spinal adjustment can help take the stress off the communication lines by handling the misalignments.  Communication between the various parts of the body smooths out – less energy is wasted.

Proper diet and exercise provide the nutrients and oxygen needed at a cellular level, giving more strength to the nervous system.

While there is no single or simple answer, a properly aligned spine, a healthy lifestyle including a sensible diet and regular exercise are a good place to start.   Dr. Pence can help through chiropractic care and sensible health and diet plans.

Find out for yourself how a healthy lifestyle and an aligned spine can go far towards helping your fatigue.
