FUTURE DOC: PRIORITY #1. BY TIM PENCE
TAKE CARE OF YOUR LIVER
Take care of the liver. A priority in any health improvement plan is to support good liver function. Nutritional Response Testing provides a quick, noninvasive, low cost and an exceptionally accurate method to determine the functional state of the liver. Standard medical diagnostics typically detect only pathology or disease of the liver and thus not sensitive enough to detect disfunction.
WHAT DOES THE LIVER DO?
The liver is the hub of nearly all digestive/metabolic activity. It is also the central organ system for body detox and nearly all fat burning and fat storing hormones work through the liver. When liver function is sluggish, similar to a dirty oil filter, many body systems are effected and therefore many signs or symptoms can ensue. These symptoms may include but is not limited to; achy joints, skin issues, burning feet, fatigue, reduced eyesight, mid back pain, allergies, stubborn weight , and the emotions of frustration, antagonism, and anger.
As is commonly known, alcohol consumption to excess (more than a couple of drinks per setting), can be particularly destructive of liver function. Chronic abuse of alcohol can lead to cirrhosis (irreversible scarring of liver tissue). Weekend binges can cause an impact that may reverberate through other systems lasting for days. The most effected is the endocrine system, resulting in hormonal and mood changes and the negation of the bodies ability to burn fat. Even moderate alcohol consumption late in the evening or before bedtime can cause or perpetuate a stubborn weight problem in addition to other health challenges.
Nearly all toxins, whether created within the body as a metabolic waste product or from external sources, are processed through the liver. A very common source of toxicity is prescription and over the counter medications. Many of the undesirable side effects of medications are due to their toxic effect on the liver. Additionally, a liver burdened by having to process medications is relatively less able to handle other toxins that we are increasingly exposed to in our daily lives.
For more on these toxins read the archived LBSPY Future Doc articles on heavy metals and toxic chemicals. If you have a question or concern about your health, please email me at [email protected] or call: 645-6080
